What is The Full Body U?

The Full Body U is a full body pregnancy pillow shaped like a soft letter U, with a tail that curls in at the bottom. You sleep inside it: head on the top curve, back against one long side, bump on the other, knees round the tail. It suits mums who switch sides at night and want one pillow to hold everything.

Inside the Full Body U

One U shaped pregnancy pillow, five points of support, and a cover that zips off. Here is the full picture.

Pregnant woman side sleeping with the mauve U shaped pregnancy pillow
One continuous U, 130 cm long, with a tail that curls in for your knees. You lie in the middle.

One pillow that surrounds you, instead of three that scatter.

Without one, you end up sleeping in a nest of odd cushions. One for the head. One for the back. One wedged under the bump. Turn over and the whole arrangement collapses. The Full Body U replaces the lot with a single continuous shape: the top curve cradles your head, one long side backs you up, the other carries your bump, and the curled tail slots between your knees.

Because both sides of the U are identical, switching sides needs no rebuilding. Roll over inside it and the support that was behind you is now in front. That is the whole trick, and it is why U shapes are the classic full body choice.

1

A mauve cover, made to be lived onThe cover is soft and mauve. It zips off. Check the care label before washing.

2

Filling that holds its shapeInside is a fibre filling. Firm enough to carry a bump, soft enough for a cheek.

3

Light for its sizeAt 1.3 kg it is a big pillow that one hand can carry. Bedroom at night, sofa in the afternoon, nursery later on.

4

Easy to keep freshThe cover zips off, so the layer against your skin is easy to keep fresh. Check the care label before washing.

Worth knowing before you order.

It arrives vacuum-packed and needs 2 to 3 days to reach full volume. And its life does not end at the birth: the U curls into a baby-feeding backrest, and a rather luxurious reading nest.

Full Body U questions, answered straight

How much of a UK double bed does it take up?
Laid out, the U measures 130 × 70 cm. On a standard UK double (135 cm wide) that is roughly your half plus a little borrowing. Most couples manage fine once the tail is tucked along your side. On a king size it disappears into the bed. If your partner guards their territory, the compact Bump Wing may keep the peace.
How do I clean the cover?
Unzip it and follow the care label. The manufacturer does not publish washing instructions, so spot cleaning is the careful choice; let it dry fully before it goes back on the pillow. The inner pillow stays out of the machine and just needs airing now and then.
Will it be too warm in summer?
We have not run a temperature test, so we do not promise it sleeps cool. You rest against the pillow rather than under it, which leaves heat room to escape. If you run very hot, a light pillowcase draped over the bump arm helps on heatwave nights.
What makes it different from the Bump Wing?
Scope. The Full Body U surrounds you from head to knees, so your head, back, bump, hips and knees are all held by one shape. The Bump Wing focuses on bump and back only, in a much smaller footprint. More bed space used here, more of you supported. That is the trade.
Can I still use it once the baby is here?
Absolutely, and you probably will daily. Curl the U around your waist and it becomes a feeding support at exactly bump height. Prop it against the headboard and you have a backrest for night feeds. Later it makes a snug spot for supervised tummy-down lounging for you, and a superb reading nest forever.
How heavy is it? Can I carry it around the house?
About 1.3 kg, according to the manufacturer. One arm carries it easily from bed to sofa, even in the third trimester. It is bulky rather than heavy, so doorways need a little steering, but stairs are no drama.
It arrives compressed. Will it really fluff up?
Yes. It ships vacuum-packed to keep delivery free, and the manufacturer says to let it air for 2 to 3 days to restore its fluffiness. Shake each arm of the U and let it breathe. If it still looks flat after three days, contact us.
I change sides constantly at night. Does that work?
That is exactly what the U shape is for. Both arms are identical, so when you roll from left to right the arm that supported your back now takes your bump, and vice versa. You turn inside the pillow instead of dragging pillows around you. Nothing to stack, nothing to fish off the floor at 3am.
What is the filling, and is it safe for pregnancy?
A fibre filling, under a mauve cover that zips off. The manufacturer does not publish washing instructions, so check the care label.
Which way round should I lie in it?
Whichever side feels right. The NHS and Tommy’s advise sleeping on your side from 28 weeks, on either side, not specifically the left. The joy of the U is that no direction is wrong: the shape works identically on either side, and the tail sits between your knees whichever way you face.
What if it turns out too big for me or my bed?
Then it goes back, no hard feelings. The 90-Night Better Sleep Trial covers exactly this: real use, real bed, real verdict. Details are on our returns page. If the U turns out too much, the simple Body Bolster is the smaller alternative.
Does it suit taller mums?
The U is 130 cm long. If you are tall, your calves may extend past the tail: the zones that matter, head, bump, back and hips, stay covered.
Prefer something smaller?

Big support, small footprint

The Bump Wing

If the Full Body U feels like more pillow than your bed can spare, this is its compact sibling. Two wings hold your bump and lower back, a free mini pillow goes between your knees, and your partner never notices it is there.

What makes the best U shaped pregnancy pillow?

Judge any U shaped pillow on four things. Filling that keeps its shape: a U only works if the arms stay firm at 3am, limp filling folds and the support is gone. A cover you can actually wash: ours zips off, which makes it easier to keep fresh, because leaks and night sweats are part of pregnancy. Honest sizing: 130 × 70 cm fits a UK double but takes 70 of its 135 cm, and we say so instead of promising it fits everywhere. A cover that zips off: check the care label before washing.

What we can do is let you sleep inside it for 90 nights and judge it yourself. If it is not the best pillow you have tried, send it back for a refund of the full price.

Getting into your Full Body U

Three moves. Comfortable by the second night.
1

Open it and waitIt arrives vacuum-sealed. Shake out each arm of the U and give it 2 to 3 days to reach full volume.

2

Climb in, head on the curveLay the U flat, lie into the middle, and rest your head on the top bend. Back against one arm, bump on the other.

3

Catch the tail with your kneesHook your knees round the curled end at the bottom. That levels your hips. You are done.

Feels odd on night one? Normal. Give it two or three nights. And you have 90 to make up your mind.
